The party house capital of Australia is Hope Island, Queensland.
Listing research by national real estate agency Ray White has narrowed down where the most properties for sale have three of the ingredients needed for a good time over the holidays – a pool, a spa or a sauna.
The suburb that has the most homes containing all three is the canal-side suburb of the Gold Coast known for its luxury real estate – large, glittering backyard pools seem to kiss the bobbing yachts on the marina.
Hope Island is also where the most listings have just pools. However, Ray White economist Nerida Conisbee found Melbourne – with its chillier conditions – is where to find the most houses for sale with bubbling spas (number one was the outer suburb of Rowville).
Ms Conisbee dedicated her last economic weekly report of the year to finding the ultimate great Aussie party locations.
“For my final piece for the year, I am having a look around Australia for the suburbs that are the best places to party over summer,” she wrote. “Although not particularly scientific, I have looked at the suburbs that have the most houses containing one of these summer favourites – swimming pool, spa or sauna. And for the ultimate party suburb, the areas with the most homes containing all three.
“Using listings data across Australia over the past two years, we have taken a look at how many times pool, spa and sauna have been included in the description when a property is for sale.
“The ultimate party suburbs are dominated by Gold Coast and Melbourne, two very different regions of Australia. And the ultimate party destination is Hope Island. With a median of $1.5 million, it is the suburb you are most likely to find a home with the trifecta of pool, spa and sauna.”
The top suburbs for listings with all three features after Hope Island are Coomera in Queensland, Brighton in Victoria, Balwyn North in Victoria, Narre Warren North in Victoria, Surfers Paradise in Queensland and Mosman in NSW.
