Main Beach is one of those areas that people don’t drive through, they drive to.
That’s what Plus Architecture Director Danny Juric says, having recently redesigned La Mer, the newest luxury development to hit Main Beach.
Located at 3580 Main Beach Parade, on the corner of the dress circle street that dissects Main Beach and Beulah Lane, La Mer has been redesigned by the Plus Architecture team, with Juric saying they were inspired by the supreme location.
“Within the Main Beach precinct, we have one of the most amazing sites,” Juric says.
“The process of redesigning La Mer posed a unique opportunity to create an elevated level of luxury while improving the liveability and accessibility of the building’s features taking into consideration its idyllic beachside location.”
Developers Polites Property Group, led by Alex Polites, and Anthony Quinn’s QNY Group, have also committed to improving the immediate vicinity of La Mer which will further benefit future residents, as well as the local community.
They’ve commissioned Urbis, who Juric says is one of the best landscape designers in the country, to completely redevelop Beulah Lane, which will make residents feel like they have their own private walkway.
Juric says it essentially increases the yard space of La Mer.
“Urbis are working through creating an environment which is pedestrianised,” Juric says.
“It gives the La Mer building curtilage. It gives it space, something which is rarely afforded in developments along the Gold Coast.”
After undergoing a redesign by Plus, La Mer will now have 22 apartments, compared to the previously knocked back plans for 30 apartments by a different architecture firm. Prices start from $4.05 million.
Each apartment has 300 sqm of internal and external living space. The lower level apartments will have three ensuited bedrooms, a multi-purpose room, and a kitchen with a butler’s pantry and a bar. They’ve been oriented to face the ocean, with the kitchen, living and dining area opening up to a water-facing balcony.
NPA Projects Director Andrew Erwin, who is handling the sales of La Mer, says the luxury development brings something different to the suburb.
“Not everyone wants the beach,” Erwin says.
“The beach is what attracts people to Main Beach, and it’s maybe more of a drawcard for those interstate, holidaymaker buyers. But after people live on the Gold Coast, often they want to take a step back, which brings a bit more privacy while still being only 100 metres or so from the sand.”
La Mer will feature one of the the largest penthouses in Main Beach. The three level penthouse will offer 360 degree views over Main Beach, the Broadwater, hinterland, and the city.
The sprawling apartment, fully customisable, will feature an ocean facing rooftop retreat with a heated pool, full outdoor barbecue kitchen, and a sauna.
There are four double-storey, sub penthouse sky homes, also fully customisable, will feature their own gym and heated plunge pool. They will have four bedrooms, a media room, cinema room, and a home office, as well as two balconies, one off the upstairs living space and another off the master retreat.
A swimming pool, outdoor dining areas, a yoga lawn, day beds, and a firepit, are all available to resident’s on the ground floor of the building.
