A GOLD Coast beach shack dubbed an “ugly duckling” is set to pull a crowd when it goes under the hammer in March.

The “quirky” three-bedroom home at 15 Moresby Ave, Palm Beach, complete with organise and purple walls, is on the market with Andy Hogarth of McGrath Palm Beach.

“It’s a really cool little place,” Mr Hogarth said.

“When I first got asked to look at it I did a drive-by and was shocked but when I walked through the front door, I was pleasantly surprised.”

Ms Hogarth said the shack was liveable but also ripe for renovation or redevelopment.

“If you are looking for an entry-level home or something to do up this is for you,” he said.

“You could easily living in it or spend money doing it up and rejuvenating it.”

Set on a level 524 sqm block, the three-bedroom timber shack has an open-plan living and dining area that flows to the front timber porch.

The kitchen has a dishwasher, electric oven and storage while the bathroom has a double vanity.

There is a huge backyard that has plenty of space for a pool.

“It’s an ugly duckling but it will grow into a nice swan,” Mr Hogarth said.

“It’s a blank canvas, honestly there’s so much you can do.”

While the street backs onto the M1, Mr Hogarth said it was surprisingly quiet.

“Don’t dismiss it from where it sits on the map,” he said.

“You actually have hardly any road noise.

“The sounds actually goes over top of you so it’s actually noisier a few streets away.”

The house has a rental appraisal of $700 per week.

Palm Beach was one of the big suburbs winners over Covid, with houses up a huge 62.5 per cent over three tears, according to PropTrack data.

The suburb has slowed slightly — houses dropped 1.2 per cent over 12 months.

“Palm Beach is still the go-to suburb on the Gold Coast.”

“And this property is in a great spot.”
